It’s not that we’re completely wrapped up in looks, but Time Tracker’s interface is seriously leaning toward the ugly side of the design scale. You might be tempted to think the functionality will match the looks. But beneath the unappealing exterior is a smart application that does the timekeeping for you when you’re working on the PC.

The interface is way too crowded, but it’s still easy to use and setup is painless. Time Tracker goes to work when you do, capturing detailed information about your PC activities. If your job requires heavy (or exclusive) work on the computer, this is a perfect way to show how your time is spent. The reports are comprehensive, and we particularly like the number of ways you could view data, allowing you to easily see a day of work or a single task. The standard export options like Excel and HTML are offered and they work well.

Design issues aside, Time Tracker can help professional freelancers track time spent on a project for billing purposes, or let curious users know just how much time they wasted shopping online at work.

    Publisher’s description

Time Tracker allows you to manage how time is spent on your projects. It records when you start, when you stop, and what you worked on, down to the second. It has extensive reporting capabilities, allowing you to focus on a specific project, task, or time period. Reports can be generated in Excel, HTML, or CSV formats. The interface is designed to be simple and intuitive, while the program has a large number of features that are easy to access. Time Tracker can automatically stop/restart, record the name of every program you use (for proof of work), and even operate in “stealth” mode to record what is happening on your computer when you are not there. All these features are easily configurable. Time Tracker even allows you to track the monetary value of the services you have provided.

    What’s new in this version:

Version 2.5 adds “Quick Project” feature which allows you to add a new project, task, and start recording work on it immediately.

Time to kick the Windows clock up a notch? With the ability to display one or more clocks on the desktop or in the system tray, the skinnable ZoneTick World Time Zone lets you see what time it is in every corner of the world at once.

Right-clicking a clock and selecting Preferences calls up the main interface, where you can easily set up a new clock and set multiple alarms. Depending on how you configure it, double-clicking a clock might display a simple calendar, a time converter, or the preferences window. You can set separate alarms for each time zone, either as a one-time deal or on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Another welcome feature is the ability to automatically sync your PC’s clock with an atomic server at regular intervals.

ZoneTick comes with 10 decent-looking skins, though the demo seems to provide access to only one. The trial version also won’t let you save more than one clock. Corporate users may balk at the lack of polish, but amateur globe-trotters will find that ZoneTick offers solid functionality at a reasonable price.

    Publisher’s description

ZoneTick World Time Zone Clock replaces the regular Windows system clock with several time zones of your choosing. Multiple time zone clocks can be placed either in the system tray or on desktop. ZoneTick makes the Windows taskbar nicer by not only fully supporting Winamp digital skins, but also by providing a set of analog skins for vertical and thick taskbars. It comes with a graphical World Map and a free City Database for easy configuration of clocks. It’s also an atomic-time synchronizer and an alarm clock; you can set alarms for any time zone. This program may be used as a scheduler to launch applications or do custom actions. The scheduler supports one-time and recurring (for instance, daily or weekly) actions. The program comes with a calendar and a time converter for easy time calculations across multiple time zones. ZoneTick is available in English, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.

Version 5.3.1 improves calendar and updates city database.

    What’s new in this version:

Version 5.3.1 includes Norwegian and Indonesian translations. Software updates mechanism fixed for enterprises using web proxy auto discovery (WPAD). Uninstaller improved to clean up all temporary files. Calendar improved. City database updated.
